David S. Gordon was Colonel of the Sixth Cavalry and a veteran of Gen. James Lane's Frontier Guard, the Battle of Gettysburg, and the Indian Wars. He married Miss Annie E. Hughes (either in 1859 or after the Civil War, according to newspaper accounts) and later married Mrs. Bell Vetter Fleming (in 1912) and resided at 1408 Massachusetts Avenue NW in Washington, D.C.
