National Museum of Natural History (U.S.). Division of Neuropteroids and Diptera.

Hide Profile

The Division of Neuropteroids was created in July 1963, when the Department of Entomology was established in the Museum of Natural History. The title of the Division was changed to Neuropteroids and Diptera in 1974, when research and transactions involving the Diptera collection were placed under the same administration as the work of the neuropterists. Around 1991, the Division ceased to be an administrative entity in the Department of Entomology.

Curators of the Division of Neuropteroids and Diptera included Oliver S. Flint, Associate Curator and Curator, 1963-1991; Richard W. Baumann, Associate Curator, 1972-1975; and Wayne N. Mathis, Associate Curator and Curator, 1976-1991.
