Wolffis, John Best, 1922-1996.

John Wolffis was born in Muskegon, Mich. in 1922 and enlisted in the Army at Kalamazoo, Mich. in 1943. At the time of enlistment he was unmarried, had completed four years of high school and working as a draftsman. Wolffis joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. and was assigned to Company A of the 86th Infantry Regiment. He transferred to Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy. Wolffis was awarded the Bronze Star medal for his actions in the Apennine Mountains and Po Valley. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Wolffis died in 1996.
