Philip Daingerfield Stephenson was born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1845 and served as a private in the Confederate Army, Missouri Brigade of Tennessee. After the war, he attended Union Seminary in Virginia and became a Presbyterian minister in 1875. He died in 1916.
