Bancroft, Frederick W.
Variant namesBorn in Montpelier, Vermont, Bancroft lived in Boston and studied music in Florence, Italy. Bancroft was a cousin of Dwight Heard. He was a poet and singer, who specialized in Irish songs. He performed “An Evening of Music” in private homes, and was a frequent entertainer for the Heards when they lived in Chicago. In 1912 or 1913, he spent the winter with the Heards to recuperate from a persistent cough.
