Passmore, John Arthur
Variant namesPhilosopher and writer. Born in Manly, Passmore attended the University of Sydney, graduating with honours in literature and philosophy. He has travelled and lectured widely overseas but refused several postings in America and Europe in favour of remaining at the Australian National University. He has published books on philosophy including "One hundred years of philosophy" (1957) and "The perfectability of man" (1970).
