University of Nebraska, Undergraduate Students

Hide Profile

The Awgwan started publication in 1913 as a humour magazine for the University of Nebraska campus. The publication included articles and cartoons, poetry, short quips, quotations on students, football, homecoming, professors, classes, alumni, and society. Each issue included an editorial. The Awgwan was published first by a small group of students, who later called themselves the Helmet and Quill Society. With the publication of Volume 5, Sigma Delta Chi, the local chapter of a professional journalism fraternity took over responsiblity for the publication.
