John Brydone Simpson was born on the 3 October 1903 , the son of William Simpson, who was a clergyman. He was a pupil at Glasgow High School and then matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1922 , graduating in 1927 with a MB ChB. In Septemer 1922 he took his first professional examinations in Botany and Physics, these were follwed by Zoology and Chemistry examinations in March 1923. His second professional examinations were taken in June 1924, in Anatomy and Physiology. In June and September 1925 he took his third professional examinations in Materia Medica and Therapeutics and Pathology. His final professional examinations were in Medical Jurisprudence and Public Health which he sat in September 1926 and in March 1927, when he took Surgery, Clinical Surgery, Practice of Medicine, Clinical Medicine and Midwifery. During his time at University he also received a second class certificate for Practical Anatomy for the summer session in 1924, a first class certificate in Clinical Surgery for the summer session in 1926 and a second class certificate in Clinical Medicine (Victoria Infirmary) for the winter session in 1926-1927. After graduating he worked as a GP in a practice in Ayrshire, Scotland. Dr Simpson died on 8th July 1990. No information is known regarding James and John Simpson.
