Missions professor, Foreign Mission Board executive, author, and pastor, Dr. Henry Cornell Goerner was one of Southern Baptists' most influential authorities on worldwide missions and evangelism during the twentieth century. Goerner served as professor of comparative religion and missions at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1935-1957) and as Area Secretary for the Department of Africa, Europe, and the Near East for the Southern Baptist Convention's Foreign Mission Board (1957-1977). He pastored several churches in Kentucky and Virginia and authored six books.
