Dorothea Jane Stephen, a worker with Bishop Whitehead of Madras, and author of Studies in early Indian thought, 1918, lived in India, 1914-37, and made a series of photographs of South Indian religious sites and objects, 1915-22. Some of the photographs appeared in Bishop Whitehead's Village life in South India .

Dorothea Jane Stephen (fl. 1927-1950) was a missionary in India. She was warden of St Andrew's Missionary Training College, Madras, later known as St Andrew's Training College for Religious and Social Service, and St Andrews House, which was established in July 1928, and closed in 1935.
