Greg Henry Waters was born on February 12, 1943 in Milwaukee. After initial study in Wisconsin, he relocated to study at what is now the University of North Texas, and was active as a saxophone and woodwind player both in the jazz lab bands and in classical music. Waters later moved to Chicago, Toronto, and New York, where he performed in ensembles backing prominent musicians, and composed and wrote prolifically. Waters died on June 16, 2020.
