Founded in 1914, the purpose of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Pacific Division is to further the work of scientists and their students, facilitate cooperation and communication among scientists and their students, foster scientific freedom and responsibility, improve the effectiveness of science in the promotion of human welfare, increase public understanding and appreciation of science, foster science education, and unify and coordinate scientific societies affiliated with the Pacific Division.
