Mrs Lisa A. F. Lewis is an authority on the life and works of Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936), author (see, e.g., Writings on writing by Rudyard Kipling, edited by Sandra Kemp and Lisa Lewis (Cambridge University Press, 1996)). She was a member of the Kipling Society's Council from 1979 to 1997, and sometime its chairman. She has collected letters and drafts by Kipling.

She deposited at the University of Sussex her collection as it existed in February 1981 and further acquisitions as nine additions down to June 1992.
