Born in Langensteinbach, Boden, Germany, Sep. 4, 1912; came to Detroit with parents in 1832 and followed baker's trade. From 1841-46 active in Scott Guards; 1840-41 an alderman; 1859-61 on Water Board; 1876 Greenback nominee for Congress, 1847-48 in War with Mexico; 1861 in Civil War; 1844 member State Legislature.
