Simpson, Marcus de Lafayette, 1824-
Born in New York, graduated from the United States military academy in 1846 and served in the Mexican and Civil Wars. He was chief commissary of subsistence of the Division of the Pacific, 1867-1873, of the Atlantic, 1873-1879, and the same office in the Division of the Missouri, at Chicago, 1879-
