The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) was founded in 1915 as an organization dedicated to promoting academic freedom and establishing standards for professional and institutional excellence in higher education. The chapter held regular meetings in which faculty members presented their research and discussed issues including tenure and promotion, faculty salaries, collective bargaining, educational evaluation, and university governance. The chapter also sponsored scholarships.
