Lowenbach, Hans
Variant namesHans Lowenbach joined the Duke Medical faculty in 1940, serving as a professor of neurology from 1940 to 1963 and chair of the Department of Psychiatry from 1951 to 1953. He returned to Duke as a visiting professor in the early 1970s and later served as professor emeritus of psychiatry and assistant professor emeritus of pediatrics at Duke. From 1949 to 1951, Lowenbach served in the U.S. Army at the 98th General hospital in Munich. He was later the commanding officer of the 3274th US. Army hospital reserve and retired in 1965 with the rank of Colonel.
