Robert Ewing Dengler (1893-1973) was Head of the Classical Language Department, 1929-1955, at The Pennsylvania State College. An experienced traveler and life member of the Touring Club Italiano, he made road trips through Europe in the 1930s and 1950s. He was also known for his translation of Theophrastus: de Causis Plantarum.
