Buckeye Brass and Manufacturing Company.

Buckeye Brass and Manufacturing Company (f. 1900), located at 6410 Hawthorne on Cleveland, Ohio's west side, manufactured brass and bronze castings, tools, parts, and fittings. It was founded in 1900 as the Buckeye Brass and Pattern Company, in the Flats neighborhood of Cleveland, and was incorporated as Buckeye Brass and Manufacturing Company in 1912. Buckeye moved to the plant at 6410 Hawthorne in 1917 and the foundry was built in 1921. Buckeye was one of the three top brass and bronze companies in the United States when it was sold to Don Shook, owner of competitor Markey Bronze, in 1952. Shook also purchased B-Mold Division of Barnes in 1955. Shook sold out to Eagle Picher Company in 1967. Eagle acquired another competitor, Bunting Brass, in 1980. After 1952 Buckeye operated at various times as Buckeye Brass, Buckeye-Markey, Masten-Buckeye, and as a division of Masten-Bunting. Eagle consolidated all brass and bronze operations in the Toledo Bunting plant in 1982, and the Buckeye Cleveland plant was closed. Buckeye employed from 50 to 200 people in Cleveland, including women, with peak employment during World War II. Buckeye workers were represented by Local 336, AFL-CIO Allied Industrial Workers Union.

It moved to the plant located at 6410 Hawthorne on Cleveland's west side in 1917, and in 1921 a foundry was built. It manufactured brass and bronze castings, tools, parts, and fittings.
