Lake Superior and Puget Sound Company.

Hide Profile

Incorporated in 1870 under the state laws of Maine, the company was created as part of the agreement that made Jay Cooke & Company sole fiscal agent for the NP for the purchase and sale of land along the NP line in Minnesota and in Dakota and Washington Territories. In 1874, the NP bought a controlling interest in the company. From about that date, the LS&PS Company acquired no more land, but continued to sell land already acquired. In 1891, its remaining land was sold to the Whidby Land and Development Company.
