George S. Atkins Collection (University of Guelph)
Dr. George Atkins (OAC '39) managed Woodlands Orchards at Bronte, Ont. then joined the CBC in 1955, where he developed and produced numerous agricultural radio and television series. He established the Developing Countries Farm Radio Network in 1979, and retired from the CBC after 25 years of service in 1980. George Atkins has worked closely with CIDA, Massey-Ferguson and the University of Guelph on the DCFRN. A Fellow of the Agricultural Institute of Canada, he received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Guelph, June 2 , 1989.
