Bruce. W. Calnek is an emeritus professor of avian medicine at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. He received his DVM from Cornell in 1955, joined the faculty at the College in 1961, and was named chair of the Department of Avian and Aquatic Animal Medicine in 1977. He retained that position until his retirement in 1995. Among his many contributions to the College and the University is his chairmanship of the Central Planning Committee that oversaw planning for the construction of the Veterinary Medical Center and the Veterinary Education Center.
