The Truth About Cuba Committee (TACC) was founded after the unsuccessful Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in 1961. Confronted with this defeat, a small group of Cuban exiles joined together in Miami, Florida in 1961 to disseminate information regarding the political and economic realities of Cuba after the Castro revolution. Their main goal was to inform the American public about what was happening in Cuba and to point out the threat communism in Cuba posed for the United States. TACC founding members included Luis V. Manrara, Jorge Bosch, James D. Baker, and Thomas L. Wolfe. Luis V. Manrara was appointed president in 1961 and served until 1971 when he was succeded by Rafael Pérez Doreste. TACC was disbanded in 1975.
