Lawyer, politician and judge. Articled in England and arrived in South Australia aboard the Lord Goderich in 1838. Engaged in legal practice and mixed farming. Member of the Legislative Council in 1851-1854 and 1857-1859. Appointed to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 1859.
