Prince George Parish and Columbia, S.C. plantation owner, author, and South Carolina state legislator. After the reorganization of the South Carolina militia in the 1790s, he was made commander (brigadier general) of the Sixth Regiment and served in that capacity until 1802. Among the plantations owned by Peter Horry was Belle Isle, located on Winyah Bay in Georgetown District.
