In 1959, School of Textiles Dean Malcolm E. Campbell appointed Grover the head of the school's new Department of Textile Technology. Grover received an honorary fellowship from the Textile Institute in Manchester, England, the organization's highest honor, in 1962. He authored numerous publications, including the Handbook of Textile Testing and Quality Control (1960). He was active in numerous professional organizations, including Sigma Xi and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Grover retired from the university in 1966.

Elliot Brown Grover (1906 - 1997) was born in the suburbs of Boston. After graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1928, Grover went on to earn a textiles doctorate at the same institution in 1931. He thereupon began work as a textile engineer at Ponemah Mills in Taftville, Connecticut. Grover's career in private industry was interupted when he was called upon to do consulting work for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, conducting inspections of German textile and pulp mills after the latter had fallen into Allied hands during World War II. Even before decamping for Europe, though, he had agreed to join the North Carolina State College (later North Carolina State University) faculty in 1944 as the head of the Yarn Manufacturing Department in the School of Textiles. In 1959, School of Textiles Dean Malcolm E. Campbell appointed Grover the head of the school's new Department of Textile Technology. Grover received an honorary fellowship from the Textile Institute in Manchester, England, the organization's highest honor, in 1962. He authored numerous publications, including the Handbook of Textile Testing and Quality Control . He was active in numerous professional organizations, including Sigma Xi and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Grover retired from the university in 1966. He spent his retirement in Raleigh.
