Neumann, Frederick L.

Austrian-born and German-educated, Neumann emigrated to the U.S. in 1939, after which he earned a PhD from Columbia University. His career as a college teacher and orchestral violinist gradually took second place to research and writing on performance practice, in which field he became eminent.
