Mormon pioneer. Mourits Mouritsen was born in Denmark on Jan. 28, 1849. His father converted to the LDS faith in 1858 and moved with his family to Utah in 1859. Mourits married Mary Elizabeth Hillyard in Salt Lake City on May 3, 1870, and had five children. His first wife died 1881 in Smithfield, Utah. He married Susan Elizabeth Wildman and Carrie (Karen) Hansen on Oct. 22, 1885. He moved to Star Valley, Wyoming with his family, eventually he moved to Bennington, Idaho, where he remained until his death in 1922.
