Robert L. Gaudino was born June 12, 1925 in Long Beach, Calif. He served in the United States Air Force from 1943 to 1946, then attended U.C.L.A (B.A. 1950) and the University of Chicago (M.A. 1953, Ph. D. 1955). Gaudino taught Political Science at Williams from 1955 until close to the time of his death in 1974. His courses covered American politics, public authority, and political philosophy. In 1966, he administered a Peace Corps training program at Williams for volunteers selected for work in India and, in the late 1960s and 1970s, pioneered two off-campus programs, "Williams-in-India" and "Williams-at-Home." During 1960-61, Gaudino taught at Agra University in India on a Fulbright grant.
