Elise Heyward Howkins (d. 1942) and Maude Heyward (1872-1942) were the daughters of J. Guerard and Pauline Heyward. Both women were active in the Savannah, Georgia social scene and were members of several women's clubs. Elise Howkins was the president of the Savannah Federation of Women's Clubs from 1917-1942. In this role, she became very involved with clubs throughout the state, primarily on projects that involved civic improvement. Maude Heyward was the branch librarian for the Savannah Public Library at Hodgson Hall for several years and also served as the genealogist for the Georgia Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
