Foster family.
Daniel Foster served in the Revolutionary War, serving with distinction. His son Lafyette Foster graduated from Brown University, practiced as a lawyer in Norwich, Connecticut, served in the General Assembly of the state for several years, and was elected to the United States Senate in 1854, where he served for two terms. He married first Joanna Boylston Lanman, who died in 1859; he then married Martha Prince Lyman.
