A retired teacher and an avocational historian with an ardent interest in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camps of the Flagstaff area. She has been a volunteer interpretive ranger with the Forest Service and the National Park Service. She authored an article titled "Monumental Tasks Flagstaff’s Mountain Elden Civilian Conservation Corps Camp" in the Journal of Arizona History, autumn 2007. In the past, she has volunteered in Flagstaff with the NPS/USGS interpretive Partnership Program. This volunteer opportunity included organizing and leading interpretive hikes on a variety of trails in Flagstaff and talking to visitors at the Arizona Snowbowl at the top of the scenic lift ride. She lives on the former site of the Mount Elden CCC camp. She earned a BA in education in 1971 and a MA in education in 1976, both from Northern Arizona University. For twenty-five years she taught middle school in Phoenix. After three years on Courtesy Patrol at Sunrise Park Ski Resort, she joined ski patrol there as an auxiliary patroller in 2002 and was active until the winter of 2009. She was awarded Auxiliary Patroller and she acted as Region 9 awards director for Far West Division. Jane Jackson is also the historian for the Coconino Rural Environment Corps, one of several groups that are a legacy of the CCC. In that role, she talked to new recruits at orientations three to four times a year. For the past two winters Jackson has led Forest Service "Ski with a Ranger" programs both at the Arizona Snowbowl and at the Flagstaff Nordic Center.
