Echols, M. P. (Marion Patton), 1899-1974.

Born in 1899. Graduated from West Point (1918). Saw action in France and Germany during WWI (1919). Stationed in Hawaii, Tex. and Okla. (1923-1926); became 1st lieutenant field artillery (1923). Professor at various private military academies (1926-1930); public relations officer at West Point in 1930's. Performed field artillery research at Fort Sill, Okla. (1941-1942). As colonel was appointed Chief of Staff for 102nd Infantry Division (1942-1943); commanded 417 Field Artillery Group (1944-1945). Became public relations officer for General MacArthur and Far East Command (1948-1952). Retired in 1953. Died 1974.
