Stanford C. Shaw, a practicing attorney, was elected to the California State Assembly in 1950 to represent the Seventy-Second District. His principal committee service during his two terms was: Agriculture, Judiciary, and Public Health. He sponsored legislation to create the California Law Revision Commission. In 1954, he returned to his law practice. In 1957 Mr. Shaw won a special election for the Thirty-Sixth Senate District for San Bernardino County. His senate service centered on his obtaining a state college for San Bernadino County, the major achievement of his one term, and the State Water Plan. For health reasons, Mr. Shaw retired from state politics in 1961.
