Williams, Benjamin S., b. 1843.

Benjamin S. Williams was the son of Col. Gilbert W.M. Williams, commander of the 47th Georgia Volunteer Regiment. Benjamin enlisted in the Confederate States Army at Savannah and began his service in 1861 in the 1st Corp, 1st Company F of the 25th Georgia Regiment. On May 12, 1862, he was transferred to Company G of the 47th Georgia Volunteer Regiment as a private. He became adjutant may 12, 1862 and served throughout the Civil War.
