Robin Sheets was a professor of English and director of the Women's Studies program at the University of Cincinnati. She receive her master's and doctoral degrees in English from John Hopkins University. Her research centered on the role of women in Victorian literature. She began teaching in the English department at the University of Cincinnati in 1972 and in 1994 became director of the Center for Women's Studies. In 1984, she was awarded UC's Dolly Cohen Award for excellence in teaching and in 1999 she received a "Woman of Distinction" award from the Great Rivers Girl Scout Council. Her publications include: Women & Men : The Consequences of Power (1976); The Woman Question : Society and Literature in England and America, 1837-1883 (1983) . Sheets died in 1999 at the age of 55.
