Ada Blanche Hartman was born in Irwin to Robert Taggert and his second wife Angela SMith. She received a Master of Literary Arts degree form Pittsburgh Female College and was married to Galen Hartman in 1889. Ada loved writing and poetry and was the author of two books, Fringes of Dawn and Nesbit, Ross, Porter, Taggert Families of Pennsylvania. She was an active member of the Red Cross and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
