Variant namesLawyer, of Vergennes, Vt.; served in a number of local positions, including Mayor, as well as the Vermont Legislature and as Quartermaster General of the Vermont Militia. Jesse G. Converse, of Panton, Vt., nephew of George W. Grandey, served with the 2nd Vermont Regiment, Company K in 1862-1863 and was discharged for disability Oct., 1863.
