Residents of Searsport and Belfast, Me. Sam Houston, Jr. (1753-1835) was grandson of an original proprietor of Belfast, Me., and served in Gen. George Washington's Life Guard during part of his Revolutionary War service from 1776-1779. Robert Houston (1766-1824), half-brother of Sam, Jr., was land surveyor who worked for Gen. Henry Knox and set the bounds for the earliest property lines in the towns of Belfast, Lincoln, Searsport, and Prospect. James Houston (1793-1841), son of Sam, Jr., became a sea-captain.
