The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is responsible for university-wide research and research support services, as well as industry and government research relationships. The OVPR collaborates with all deans and center directors and works closely with other university administrators to develop and carry out RIT's strategic research agenda. Research is conducted to advance the body of knowledge, enhance student and faculty learning, and build RIT's reputation in the scientific and technical communities while providing positive returns to its sponsoring partners.The OVPR consists of: Sponsored Research Services, Research Relations, Intellectual Property Management, Human Subjects Research, Research Computing, Simone Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Venture Creations, and IT Collaboratory. Prior to the OVPR at RIT, the RIT Research Corporation, a for-profit subsidiary of RIT, conducted applied research and consulting services. It was founded in 1980 and was eventually absorbed as part of the university in 2011.
