Emes, Worsley, d. 1802

Worsley Emes began his military service as a gunner in James Butler's company of the Royal Artillery Regiment of the British Army in October 1755, and served in North America until January 1769. In October 1776, Emes became first lieutenant of the Pennsylvania Artillery Regiment for the Continental Army. He served in the army throughout the war, including at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778, and eventually attained the rank of captain lieutenant in the 4th Battalion of Artillery. After the war, Emes lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he died on July 29, 1802.
