First Church gathered 1630; also known as Congregational Church; in 1697 the town divided into two precincts; First Church located in East Precinct; in 1738 West Precinct became town of Waltham; at that time the church was renamed Church of the First Parish of Watertown; listed on the Unitarian register 1845-1851; extant as First Parish of Watertown (Unitarian-Universalist) in 1996.
