Washoe Tribe of the States of Nevada and California.
The Washoe Tribe of the States of Nevada and California, located in western central Nevada and eastern central California, filed a claim in 1951 with the United States Indian Claims Commission (docket no. 288), seeking compensation for lands and tribal assets lost to white encroachment beginning in 1853. The claim was settled in 1970.
