Farmer & politician in Morgan County (after 1837, Cass County), Ill.
Job settled in Sylvan Grove (near present-day Virginia), Ill., in 1819. He represented Morgan County in the Illinois State House (1824-1826) & Senate (1826-1830), and was Sylvan Grove postmaster (1828-1838). He also served on the Board of State House Commissioners, 1837-1841, which supervised the construction of the Capitol building in Springfield. He was a candidate for US Congress in 1843.
