Charles P. Gross was a United States (U.S.) Army officer. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (USMA), West Point, New York, with the class of 1914. He attained the rank of major general before his retirement from active duty in 1945.

Charles Philip Gross (1889-1975) was born in Brooklyn, New York. He received his commission in the Corps of Engineers upon his graduation from West Point in 1914. While serving as commanding officer of 318th Engineers, AEF, during World War I, he was wounded in battle at Meuse-Argonne. After World War I, he was an instructor at West Point from 1922 to 1926. During 1940 and 1941, he served as District Engineer at Rock Island, Illinois. He achieved the rank of brigadier general in March 1942, then major general in August 1942. From 1942 to 1945, he was a member of the Combined Chiefs of Staff, and attended conferences at Washington, Quebec, Malta, Yalta and Potsdam. He retired as a major general in August 1948.
