Union soldier from Grand View, Iowa, who was a member of Company B of the 55th Illinois Infantry Regiment.

Lacey enlisted July 25, 1861, and was mustered in Oct. 31, 1861, as a sergeant. He was mustered out October 31, 1864, as a private. Along with other Iowa members of Company B (which was mainly comprised of soldiers from DeKalb and Ogle counties in Illinois), Lacey had been recruited originally for the 23rd Illinois Infantry Regiment. Twenty years after the war ended he was a resident of Wappello County, Iowa.
