Swamp Brook Preservation Association (Concord, Mass.)

Citizens' organization of Concord, Mass., devoted to the conservation and management of the wetland area surrounding Swamp Brook. The Association fought and won a major battle in 1974 against the Concord Home Owning Corp. (CHOC), which sought to build a low and moderate income housing complex on 5 acres of Wheeler land in the Swamp Brook area. In May and June of 1974, Edith Sisson appeared for the Association at a hearing before the Mass. Dept. of Natural Resources; Attorney Paul L. Counihan represented the Concord Home Owning Corp., Attorney C. Thomas Swaim Concord's Dept. of Natural.

(Cont.) Resources (which opposed the CHOC plan). In 1977, Concord's Natural Resources Commission received approval at Town Meeting to purchase 5.32 acres of land abutting Swamp Brook from Frederick and Alice Wheeler.
