Baker, William R., 1820-1890.
Baker, who went to Texas from New York State in 1837, was elected county clerk of Harris County in 1841, was on the board of directors of the Houston and Texas Central Railroad in 1852, was mayor of Houston from 1880 to 1886, and was also involved in newspaper publishing and banking.
