BIOGHIST REQUIRED Writer, social worker. Lasker was born in Hamburg, Germany, July 21, 1880, resided in England, 1901-1914, coming to the United States in 1914. In England he was employed in social reform movements, being closely associated with B. Seebohm Rowntree and David Lloyd-George. After coming to the U.S., Lasker was active in New York City social work at the Henry Street Settlement and on various committees appointed by the Mayor. He was associate editor of the SURVEY MAGAZINE, 1917-1923, and was associated with THE INQUIRY of World War I and the Institute of Pacific Relations. He travelled extensively for the Institute in the Far East, studying social, economic, educational, and cultural conditions and relations with the West.
