Businessman, Printer
Griffith was a native of Sheritts, Ohio but spent his childhood in Lexington, Ky. He worked for the Lexington HERALD before joining the Mergenthaler Linotype Company (Brooklyn, N.Y.) as a sales representative. Griffith eventually worked his way up the ladder to vice-president in charge of typographical development. He personally designed and adapted a number of types for the linotype and brought outstanding artists, such as W. A. Dwiggins and Rudolph Ruzicka, to work for his company. He retired in 1950.
